Autumn leaves, Apples please! A Meaningful Meals Recipe – The Nest Schools

Autumn leaves, Apples please!

When you try new foods with your child you are encouraging them to be bold and try new things too. Something as simple as different colored apples can really be a fun experience for everyone! As the seasons begin to change, and we dive full force into all the fun family fall activities consider adding this one to your list.

Build Your Own: Apple Nachos

What you’ll need:

  • A variety of fresh apples.
  • Peanut butter (or other alternative spread – ex. yogurt or other nut butter)
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Other toppings as desired (cinnamon, nuts, dried fruits, etc.)

Let’s get cooking:

  • Wash and slice fresh apples.
  • Layer onto a plate or tray.
  • Drizzle your desired spread and other toppings in between layers.
  • Repeat in a layered fashion (like Nacho chips!)
  • Grab a plate, napkins, and your favorite drink to enjoy together.

As you prepare your Apple Nachos, talk about the colors and smells of the different apples. Feel free to even taste a few slices to see what you like best!
