Welcome to Buddy’s Book Review! A review of our favorite children’s books here at The Nest Schools. We thoroughly believe in the power of literature, and we are excited to introduce wonderful new children’s books to our families in hopes that they will expand their own home libraries as we expand our own!
How will we review and rate each book? Each book will be rated in terms of its likeness to our core values: KINDNESS, WELLNESS, INNOVATION, and FUN. Five beautiful feathers will be given for the core value we think each book best represents. Happy Reading!

The Pickle Tales, written and illustrated by The Nest School’s very own Cassidy Pietrick, is a delightful children’s book that follows Pickle, a lovable little, long dog, as she learns to recognize and manage her BIG feelings.
Written with playful language and beautifully textured illustrations, The Pickle Tails is quick to engage young readers as they follow Pickle throughout her daily adventures and the many emotions she feels along the way! Whether she is feeling red hot mad like lava, or the calmness of a green meadow Pickle knows just what to do. Follow along on her journey to see how Pickle takes on each feeling; using her simple but powerful calming strategy to help her manage each obstacle she faces and keep those big feelings in check!
While social-emotional learning is a core theme to The Pickle Tails, Cassidy is sure to weave in many moments for learning other things such as counting, colors, and rhymes! It really is a story full of teachable moments and fun for all children.
